Nancy Lou Ruckhaber (Berthelson), age 96, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. She was born on May 16, 1930, in Salem, Oregon, to Harold and Bonney Berthelson.

Nancy was an active member of Job’s Daughters during her youth and proudly served as Honored Queen. She graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane, Washington, in 1948 and later attended the Portland Museum of Art, where she further developed her lifelong passion for art.

On June 5, 1949, Nancy married Wayne Ruckhaber, who preceded her in death. Together they built a loving family and shared many happy years.

Nancy was the devoted mother of five children: Thomas (Pam) Ruckhaber, Jaynee (Joe) Burks, Jill Ruckhaber, Paul (Natalie) Ruckhaber, and Missy (Mike) Gainer. She was a proud grandmother to Michael (Trish), Danny, Joe (Stacy), Katie, Tim, Dustin (Lorie), Cameasha (Brady), Molly, Mitchell, and Mikaila. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Missy and grandson, Jonathan.

Nancy was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Izzy, Brady, Isabella (Jack), Sam, Hailey, and Paxton, all of whom brought her great joy. She was a loving and caring big sister to Sally Barlow Olsen.

A talented artist, Nancy expressed her creativity throughout her life and later founded and operated her own business, West Coast Embroidery. Her artistic gifts, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to her craft touched many lives.

Nancy was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and lived her life guided by faith. Above all else, she loved and cared deeply for her family.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, faith, and family. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, extended family, and many friends.
