Obituary

Noreen was born in Spokane on February 13th, 1933. She passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2024 with family by her side.  During her final week she was able to visit with her family and friends that were so important to her.

Noreen and her sister, Pat, who was two years older, were raised by their loving parents, James and Charlotte Sullivan.  They grew up in Saint Augustine Parish where they attended grade school. Pat was one year ahead of Noreen in school.

Their cousin Mikell was two years behind Noreen. The three remained best friends their entire lives.  The family spent many summers at the family cabin at Diamond Lake.

Noreen attended Holy Names Academy, graduating in 1950. Noreen then went on to attend Seattle University, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Education.  Noreen met Walt Devlin at Seattle U. Walt had attended Gonzaga Prep and Gonzaga University and was enrolled in Graduate School in Seattle.  They fell in love and were married in Spokane on December 26, 1955.

Noreen and Walt settled in Spokane and raised three boys, Terry, Dan, and Tim. Walt and Noreen loved to play golf together, and their love for the game was passed on to their boys at a very early age. From that point forward golf served as the cornerstone of their family activities and social life.  Noreen was a member of Manito Golf and Country club for over 60 years. During her time at Manito, Noreen and Walt made great friendships which lasted a lifetime.  Noreen collected numerous Women's Club Championships.

Noreen's husband Walt died in 1981 at the age of 51. Several years later Noreen met Eugene Sivertson, and they were married in 1988.  Noreen and Gene enjoyed golfing, family, and traveling, creating many great memories. They traveled south to the San Diego area every winter for over 25 years.

Mom, having only boys, by default became a sports fan. It was a role she loved and embraced. She was an avid golfer and swimmer, and became a huge fan of Gonzaga basketball, WSU football, Mariners, Seahawks, even horse racing. She could talk sports with her boys, grandkids, and great grandkids.  As recently as this year, at age 90, she went wire to wire to win the family and friends football pool with over 70 participants. Noreen reluctantly kept up with technology, so she could email, text, and Facetime with her family. She even texted regularly with her great grandchildren!

Noreen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Charlotte Sullivan, husbands Walter Devlin and Eugene Sivertson, sister Patricia Martin, daughter-in-law Jackie Devlin, and grandson Shane Devlin. She is survived by her three sons, Terry (Heidi), Dan (Terri), Tim (Rachel), eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
