Patricia "Patty" Kinnett passed away with family by her side on Friday June 12, 2026, she was 92 years old.
She was born in Hartford, Connecticut to William and Josephine Donovan. She was the oldest of 4 children. In 1941, at the age of 8, her family moved to the Spokane area to be near relatives, and she spent the rest of her life in Spokane.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic school as a child and later graduated from Marycliff Catholic High School. Following graduation, she enrolled at Sacred Heart School of Nursing. Patty worked at Sacred Heart Hospital for 41 years, most of them as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse. Her care saved babies' lives every day. She enjoyed the babies and often came home telling her family all about them. She retired in 1998.
Patty loved to read, and in retirement she was able to pursue that love even more. She especially enjoyed her Zoom calls; they were the highlight of every week.
Patty married Ted Kinnett on July 16, 1955, at Sacred Heart Church, and together they had four children. She was a loving mother and is survived by all four of her children: William (Linda) Kinnett, Marcia (Pat) White, Lori (Gary) Geffre and Julie (Jukka) Kauppila. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Kathy Quinn, Sheila Donovan and Peggy (Mike) Davey.
The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Patty in her later years. A very special thank-you goes to her primary caregiver, Christine Bosire, at A Nurses Touch Adult Care Home, where Patty resided for her last four years. Christine went above and beyond, and she and Patty shared a truly special friendship. The family also extends special thanks to Valley General Hospital and Hospice of Spokane for their knowledge and care, which were so important at the end of Patty's life. We are eternally grateful to everyone who helped make her final years so comfortable.
Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Church on the Spokane's South Hill. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Date and times TBD
