Obituary

Patricia Ann Wiegele passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at The Hospice House in Spokane, Washington, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 23, 1940, in Wallace, Idaho.

Patricia spent her early years in Wallace, completing 12 years in the public school system before embarking on a career in the dental field that would span four decades. Her professional journey began in Wallace and took her through Coeur d'Alene and Spokane Valley before she settled into a long tenure on Spokane's South Hill, where she worked for the final 33 years of her career.

In her youth, Patricia was active in the Rainbow Girls Society, an experience that nurtured her lifelong love of people. This gift for connection became a hallmark of her work life, where she was known for her warm rapport with patients and colleagues alike. Affectionately nicknamed "Nurse Wiegele" by coworkers and "The Human Rolodex" by employers, Patricia's memory and attention to detail were legendary.

Beyond her professional life, Patricia was deeply involved in parish life at Fatima and St. Peter Catholic Churches. She contributed to accounting teams and crafted decorative baskets for the annual St. Peter Golf Tournament raffle. She also found joy in creating personalized obituary mementos for friends and family.

Patricia loved decorating her home for every occasion—especially St. Patrick's Day in honor of her "Kelly" heritage.  She cherished time at Waitts Lake, Washington. There, she enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing, and gathering around the campfire with neighbors. Patricia and her extended family participated in the Bloomsday event 16 times.  A devoted fan of Gonzaga men's basketball, she never missed a game without her Zags blanket, beads, and lucky Kelly green beanie baby.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Norm; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Susan of Renton, WA; her son Chris and grandson Aiden of Chandler, AZ.  She is also survived by her sisters Barbara Berry of Spokane and Janice Knowles of Sandpoint, ID.  She was preceded in death by her sister Kay Garitone of Wallace, ID.

A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Parish, 3520 E. 18th Ave., Spokane, WA 99223, on Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice House, 367 E. 7th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
