Phillip Dale Bodam laid to rest on March, 20th, 2023. at the age of 77 years old at the VA hospital. He battled Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for 22 years. The constant chemo and radiation had taken it's tole on his heart and kidneys. He kept fighting up until the end. He loved life and fought hard to stay with the love of his life for as long as he could. He made it to their 54th Wedding Anniversary and died the morning of.
He was born 10/25/1945 in San Bernardino, California to Irwin and Dolly Bodam. He graduated Grants Pass High School in Grants Pass, Oregon. He enlisted Oct. 04, 1965 into the United States Navy. He advanced to Shipfitter( metal smith) Petty Officer 3rd Class E-4 in just short of 4 year with a Honorable discharge on Sept. 05, 1969. He received a Vietnam Service medal, National Service metal, and a Republic of Campaign metal. He was stationed on the Naval Ship known as the USS Tripoli (LPH 10) based out of San Diego, California.

Just 6 months left in his Navy career he married Jane Marie Palmer in Meridian, ID on March 20, 1969. They moved to National City, California to finish his Navel duty. He became a Born Again Christian in 1969 after attending a revival in Long Beach, California. From that day forth; everywhere he went was a opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus and he did.
Sept. 1969, he and Jane moved from California to Idaho and bought a home in Kuna, ID. He attended Maranatha Bible College in Meridian, ID.
during which he worked at the VA hospital as a janitor 1969. 1970 he got a job working as a carpenter. He later went to work at Home Dairies in Meridian ID. the same year., Got on with Morrison Knutsen 1971. He sold the house in Kuna, ID and moved his family to Van Buren, Arkansas 1977. Later moved away from Arkansas to Veradale, WA. 1977, then again to 9 Mile Falls, WA.
He finally settled down bought a house with 5 acres in Spokane County, Washington; where he raise chickens and pigs. He loved playing the guitar. He sang, played the guitar and was the Assistant Pastor at a Seventh Day Assembly of God in Christ Jesus church in Spokane, WA.
He loved reading his Bible and telling others about the Lord.
He worked at Coeur 'de Alene Steel as a welder for 10 years. He ended up injuring his back on the job. This making him unable to continue working as a welder.
He loved the outdoors and being in the sun. He sold the house and the 5 acres. He moved his family to Mesa, Az. and started school learning installing and fixing air conditioning units.
The following year he moved his family to Prescott Valley, Az. because crime rate was less and heat was milder.
The next summer moved again to Jacksonville, Oregon to be closer to his family. Jane hated the rain. Ended up moving back to Washington this time to Cheney, WA. Many back surgeries later he developed Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He fought cancer on and off for 22 years. He always would thank the Lord for everything in his life even cancer. It gave him the opportunity to share his faith and how the Lord was working Miracles in his life.
He loved taking nature walks, camping with the family, taking his family on picnics, and to the lake on weekends.
He loved studying and educating about Native American culture and their history. Loved watching old western movies. Raw Hide, Ponderosa, Happy Valley, Yee Haw, Gun smoke and such.
He later moved from Cheney, WA to Chattaroy, WA. They then bought 10 acres in Deer Park, WA. He spent countless hours working building barns and putting up fences. He loved to shoot his guns, shoot his arrows, and playing horseshoes with the grandkids.
He was very skilled with his hands working with wood and leather. As a hobby he made bows, arrows, tomahawks, spears, teepee, drums, moccasins / clothing, bags, head dresses and other crafts. He used the research and all his knowledge of Native American culture and made crafts authentic as possible.
He loved animals. He cared for many chickens that he had names for each. He raised 2 pigs; Mork and Pork and a horse he loved named Flash. He loved to garden and every year loved "sharing the spoils" with friends, family and neighbors.
He loved food. He loved pumpkin pie, banana coconut cream pie, and chocolate Ice cream. He loved fresh vegetables, mushrooms, shrimp, frog legs, and Mexican food. He loved all family get togethers, family birthday parties, taking his family on picnics, and trips to the lake on weekends.
He was proceeded in death of his parents Irwin and Dolly Bodam. 3 sisters and 2 brothers; Coralee and her husband Bill Hoffman, Charlene, Betty and her husband AL Walker, Glen and Jerry Bodam. His grandson Boston James Bodam. He leaves behind his loving wife; Jane of 54 years. 2 daughters and 2 sons; Leah and her husband Peter Russell, Diana and her husband Shaun Heller, Clayton and his wife Adel Bodam, James and his future bride to be Tanya, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. A sister Dixie Gronewald. Several nieces, nephews and cousins along with many dear friends.
