Randi Larson
Arness
August 30, 1960 – September 12, 2020
Randi Larson Arness, 60, of Colbert, Washington passed away at her home on September 12, 2020, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Randi perished peacefully on the day of her thirty-third wedding anniversary with her husband Jerry and her family by her side.
Born August 30, 1960 to Darwin and Lois (Zahnen) Larson, in Chicago, Illinois, Randi attended school in Wakonda, South Dakota where she graduated high school in 1978. She then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Finance.
After completing her college degree in 1982, Randi immediately began her career as the manager of a JoAnn Fabrics store in Yakama, Washington. Randi then transitioned into the Banking and Financial Services sector, with West One Bank in Yakima Valley and then the Tri-Cities, before transferring with the company as a Branch Manager to Spokane, in August 1995. After settling in Spokane, Randi was hired as Controller for Gateway Trade Finance, an international import/export company, before finishing her successful career as Controller with a metal fabrication company, Sytech, Inc., from which she retired in early 2018.
Randi met her husband and life mate, Jerry Arness, in September of 1986, where they both lived in the same apartment community in Yakima. Randi and Jerry were married the following year, on September 12th, 1987. The two developed an immediate bond, when Jerry's first gift to Randi during their courtship was a pair of Hiking Boots. From that point forward, the two embarked as one, down life's path.
Randi and Jerry loved to vacation along the California, Oregon and Washington coast, as well as several notable trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and the Florida Keys, to name just a few. But, they shared an even greater affinity for their home region - the great northwest - and spent many weekends enjoying their travel trailer at nearby campgrounds; boating on area lakes and the Columbia River; and touring on their motorcycle. And, at the culmination of each hike, mountain-biking, snow-shoeing or other spontaneous adventure, Randi would famously arrange a picnic with a fine bottle of wine, or a stop at one of the many area wineries that welcomed them.
In-spite of all their time spent travelling, Randi enjoyed making herself busy at home with cooking, decorating, doing yard- work, and on-going improvement projects. She loved to relax in the surroundings of her beautiful home and enjoyed watching all the wildlife in her backyard, including her cats Max and Mr. Morris.
Adventurous, determined, hard working, capable of anything, and genuinely friendly to everyone, Randi quietly improved everything in the world around her.
Randi became a member of the Catholic Church in 1991, while being sponsored by her life-mate and is survived by her husband, Jerry Arness of Colbert, Washington, mother Wanda Lois Larson, of Kearney, Missouri, sister Rika and her husband Dan Heruth of Liberty, Missouri, brother Ryon Larson and his wife Sheila of Surprise, Arizona, nephew Hans Heruth, of Columbia, Missouri, uncle Don Larson and wife Shirley of Viera, Florida, and cousins Kris Larson and wife Cindy, Kara (Larson) and husband Edward Mandara, and Keith Larson and wife Pamela.
