Richard E.
Capaul
March 22, 1927 – September 25, 2021
Richard "Dick" Capaul passed away peacefully on Saturday September 25, 2021 at Hospice House of Spokane, where family members were able to spend time with him. He was born in Coeur d' Alene Idaho March 22, 1927. Our thanks to Hospice of Spokane who helped us over the last year and being with him all the way, we are grateful.
Preceding him in death were his parents Henry Capaul and Cora Fiddick; his brother Ted Capaul; and his son Jeff Capaul. Surviving him are his wife Wilma (married 69 years); his son Riccardo Capachilli; daughters Yvonne Chaffins, Roxanne Capaul and Sandra Sweeney (Dave); grandchildren, Courtni Kalmik (Justin), Carli Capaul, Rodney Neubrand, Bill Chaffins (Carol) Shannon Kirsh (Christian) Becky Chaffins and Richard Chaffins; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Dick joined the Navy in 1945 and shipped overseas to the Philippines. When he was discharged he learned the body and fender trade and owned several Lilac City Body Shops in Spokane. He loved cars and his pride and joy was his 1941 four door Cadillac Convertible.
He also loved race cars, building his own and racing at the Mead track which was his first track and ended at the Stateline Speedway, where he raced in competition with his son Jeff during that time. Dick won many trophies over the years. When he retired he started playing golf with his wife and friends and belonged to the Liberty Lake Men's League.
Dicks young family grew up boating on Lake Coeur d' Alene and enjoyed it for many years.. He and Wilma also stayed friends through the years with their close friends they grew up with in Coeur d' Alene. They took many trips together, Hawaii trips were really special. His most recent activity in the last few years was playing pool with his friends every week. He played his last game three weeks before he left us. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor, he was loved and respected by many, and he will be greatly missed. He was a beautiful proud man.
May the peace of the Lord be with him.
