Obituary

Richard Martin Jacobs died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on December 1, 2021. Rich was born in Chewelah, WA but spent his life in Spokane, WA working for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1988. He truly enjoyed the great outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing and in later years, simply taking photos and watching "his deer."

In 1962, Rich married the love of his life, Sandra H. Watson and they were blessed with four children, Sheryl (Evdokimo), Teresa, Susan (Annis), and Richard Jr. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years and four children and their spouses, Allen Evdokimo, Mark Annis and grandchildren, Alexandra (Sparks), Ashley (Evdokimo), Adam (Evdokimo), Richard III, Phillip, Morgan, and great grandchildren Rowan and Kieran Sparks.

After retirement, Rich and Sandy enjoyed many happy years in their home on the river and spent time visiting with family and friends. They enjoyed several trips a year to Monterey, which truly felt like a second home.

A small private service was held on December 8, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery as we said goodbye to one of the best men ever.  Rich was a character and drew others to him with his subtle sense of humor, quick smile and warm greeting of, "Hi Kid" to just about everyone he met!

The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Cross Cemetery, especially Theresa Sullivan and Mark Westbrook for their kind and thoughtful guidance. Rich and his family also would like to thank his caregivers from Horizon Hospice, especially his nurse Ashley and caregiver Lyric who made both Rich and Sandy feel comfortable and prepared. Anyone wishing to make donations, the family suggests Horizon Hospice for their fund for patient's final wishes or assisting families with travel.
