Obituary

Richard Leroy Lathrop Sr., 88, of Spokane, Washington, passed into the arms of Jesus on March 31, 2025. Born at home on a homestead near Ellensburg, Washington, on December 30, 1936.

Richard spent most of his early years in Marysville Washington, until the age of 17, when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served honorably for four years.

At the age of 20, Richard married the love of his life, Marianne Wells, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 68 joyful years. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, mutual support, and cherished memories.

After his military service Rich worked for many years in the boat manufacturing business. There he worked in all facets of the business culminating in becoming the plant manager for Bayliner marine in Valdosta Ga.

Richard eventually retired in Spokane, where he enjoyed his grandchildren, loving wife and lots of golf.

His warm spirit and steadfast faith touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Marianne; his son Richard and wife Camela and their daughter Lydia; daughter Laura Cummings, her husband Bryan and their children Marissa and Brennan.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marissa Lynn; his mother, Lydia Lathrop; his father, Emory C Lathrop and his brothers, Emory S Lathrop, Dennis Swirtz, Robert and Bill Lathrop.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and commitment that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A service to celebrate Richard's remarkable life will be held on April 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Holy Cross, 7200 N Wall St, 99208
