Richard passed away July 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by parents Manual and Rufina Parra. Survived by wife Patricia, sons Donald, Michael, Stephen and John and daughter Heather. He has 9 grandchildren. Sister, Celia Hendrickson.

Born March 15, 1948 in San Pedro CA, Richard joined the Air Force in 1967 at the age of 19 and served in the Vietnam War for 1 year. During his 24 years in the Air Force working as a jet mechanic and later as a drug/alcohol counselor his last duty station was at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, WA where he and Patti stayed and made their home. He continued working as a counselor until his retirement in 2010.

With a passion for animals, specifically dogs, Richard had a favorite dog, Pugsley. He was his beloved pet. Richard never met a stranger, loved talking and sharing stories with others – especially fellow veterans.

Services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10 am followed by a service at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the ASPCA.
