Rita Sylvia Giebel passed away peacefully on Thursday December 2, 2021 at the age of 84.  Her daughter Ann was at her side as she passed in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

Rita was born on February 28, 1937 in Deadwood, South Dakota but spent most of her life in Spokane, WA.  Family, friends, and colleagues will remember a mother, a friend and a lifelong librarian.  You would rarely see Rita without a book in her hand or in her purse as she was a voracious reader.  She worked for many years at the Spokane Public Library and had a long stint as the librarian at Gonzaga Preparatory School where she had the unique skill of keeping the students "in line".  This would usually be getting kicked out of the library when you were not there for reading or researching.

She will be missed by her children; son Alan and daughter Ann; grandchildren, Tom, Alan and Juno and son in law Bill Moore, Daughter in law Lina Dewa Giebel and Daughter in law Kathy Giebel and many other close family members.

A celebration of Rita's life will be held in Spokane, WA sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2022
