Obituary

Roger Raymond Kimmet, born May 26, 1939, to Bill and Ruth Kimmet, in the Sunburst, Montana area, and was raised there with his three brothers and three younger sisters. He graduated in 1957 from Sunburst, and just out of high school, he opened a body shop in Shelby, Montana. He joined the US Air Force in his early 20's and served for six years, involved with the Minuteman Missile Program.  Immediately after leaving the service, he moved to Spokane where he met Sally Jean Gay and they were married shortly thereafter.

Roger built the first automated carwash in the Spokane area. He then started working at Garland Auto in 1969 and he ultimately purchased the shop in 1990.  Retiring in 2018, he sold the shop and building, and then enjoyed spending time in his woodshop. He loved his customers and became known for the fun customer service for his "grannies", his great sense of humor and funny reader board signs on the corner of Garland and Monroe. Roger passed peacefully surrounded by his family on August 25 th . He is survived by his loving wife, Sally, of 57 years, his two children; Kelley (Arnold) and her husband, Vince; and David, his wife, Malinda (Stasch), along with his grandkids, Mike Arnold and Katie Arnold; and Tyler Kimmet (wife Katie) and Isaac Kimmet (wife Megan).
