Obituary

Ronald "Ron" John Mindrup, 90, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. Ron was born on September 9, 1935, in Lenora, Kansas, to Henry and Marie Mindrup. As a young man, he moved to Spokane, where he attended Saint Patrick Catholic School, Gonzaga Preparatory School, and Cheney High School.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Tommy, Art, and Marilyn; and his beloved daughter, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara; his daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Alan, Helen and Scott, Sharon and Dave, and Rory; as well as six grandchildren.

Ron lived a life of service, dedication, and community. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, served in the Air National Guard, worked as a telephone lineman, then took over his parent’s farm to become a farmer in 1963. He dedicated 37 years as a volunteer firefighter. He was a proud member of the Grange for over 50 years, a board member of the Marshall Cemetery and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus at St Rose of Lima in Cheney. Ron was also an avid bowler, an enthusiastic outdoorsman.

More than his accomplishments, Ron will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. He touched countless lives through his kindness, his willingness to help others.

Services will be held at 11:30 Thursday July 9th, 2026 at St Rose of Lima in Cheney WA. The burial will follow at the Marshall Cemetery, a reception will follow details to be provided. In lieu of flowers the family encourages acts of kindness in Ron’s memory, reflecting the way he lived every day.
