Pantzar
December 6, 1939 – September 9, 2024
Ronald Richard Pantzar, also fondly known as Butch, born on 6th December 1939, passed away peacefully at home on 9th September 2024. Ron was born in Spokane, WA to Walter Pantzar and Eva Sanford the eldest of three children.
Ron served in the U.S. Army Reserve, worked for Glaser Brothers, and obtained his Real Estate license before developing a successful career as a Service Rep with Meyercord Company, supporting the certification requirements of the Tabacco industry, a role that allowed him to travel extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron was passionate about hunting and fishing, with a particular love for catch and release fishing. His skill in tying his own flies was renowned and he gained recognition for creating the 'blood worm', a fly that became famous among the fishing community. He used this fly on countless lakes and waterways across Washington and Idaho.
In his leisure time, Ron found great joy in cruising and travel, golfing, camping and spending time in serene, natural settings. He had a huge heart and generous spirit. A wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and papa, his love for his family and the great outdoors will always be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walt and Eva and his sister Che Che Boekenoogen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Kirchner), and his three children Cheryl (Mark Taylor) Isle of Skye Scotland, Kevin (Heidi Matter) Seattle and Kimberly (Maury Nollette) Spokane. Five grandchildren Charlotte Taylor (John Colgrave) Cambridge England, James Taylor (Callum House) Cardiff Wales, Oliver, Mason and Elliott Nollette and one great granddaughter Ellie Colgrave. He is also survived by his youngest sister Ginger Nikula and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A huge and special thankyou to Brook Brenden whose help allowed Ron to stay in his home and to Hospice of Spokane.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who had the privilege of sharing his passion for nature and the great outdoors.
