Obituary

Rosalie (Rosie) Parker Lueck was born on June 16th, 1939, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Joe and Willamette Parker. At an early age she moved with her family to a farm in Moscow, Idaho. She was a cute, energetic girl who loved kittens. She attended Ursaline Academy in Moscow, Holy Names Academy high school in Spokane and Holy Names Academy college in Spokane where she majored in biological science. After completing her degree, she went on to an internship in hematology in Great Falls, Montana, and after completing this internship she worked in hematology in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She returned to Spokane in 1964 to work in the hematology lab at Sacred Heart hospital, where she remained for 25 years and ultimately became head of hematology. She re-met the love of her life, Dean Lueck, and they married in 1966. One year later they were blessed with the arrival of their one and only son, Andy.  In 1988 Rosie suffered a major stroke and retired from the healthcare field, much to her dismay. Despite this health setback, she was able work in her garden, to do limited travel with Dean, and to spend time cruising with Dean and friends on their boat at Anacortes, Washington. She loved being on the water, and she made many friends at their various ports of call. As time progressed, more health limitations developed, and she spent more time at home in Spokane. She passed away at Holy Family hospital on February 21st, 2025, at the age of 85. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Otis Orchards, Washington, and was active in several professional associations throughout her career. She is survived by her loving husband Dean, with whom she shared 58 years of truly exceptional companionship and partnership in life. She is also survived by her loving son Andy, by her sister-in-law Janet Parker, and by her nieces Vicky and Susan and her nephews Thomas, Don, Doug, Rod and Rich. She and her family are grateful to the entire care team, including the visiting nurses, of Providence Healthcare, and the homecare individuals for the last 30 years.  A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards (4521 N Arden, 99027).
