Roselie Mae Cooney passed suddenly but peacefully on July 9, 2024, in Spokane, WA. She was born on December 10, 1942, in Estevan, Canada, to Oscar and May Sundhagen. The oldest of three children, Roselie was raised in Crosby, ND, where she graduated from Crosby High School in 1960. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and worked in finance, a career she continued after moving to Minneapolis.

In 1970, Roselie moved to Spokane where she met the love of her life, John Cooney. Roselie and John married on May 22, 1971, in Crosby. In Spokane, Roselie worked as a secretary to the Spokane County Commissioners. Her greatest joy was raising her four children.  She was loving, forgiving, and selfless. A devout Lutheran, Roselie was active in Bible Study Fellowship, leading children's programs for over 30 years. Roselie loved sewing and quilting, playing card games with her children and grandchildren, Norwegian cooking (especially lutefisk at Christmas), hot air ballooning, and traveling to the Oregon Coast and North Dakota for the Norsk Høstfest.

Roselie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John Cooney; her brother, Neal Sundhagen; her sister, Judy Hall; her daughter, Heather Johnson (Rodney); her sons John O. Cooney (Joleen), Jason Cooney (Melissa), and Jacob Cooney; her grandchildren Jarrod Johnson, Justin Johnson, Julia Johnson, John H.
