It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother,
uncle, father and friend on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Shawn was the second child born to parents Joan (Engelhard) and Patrick J. Murphy on February 18, 1968. He
was a lifelong resident of Spokane, WA and graduated in 1986 from Mead High School. Shawn was employed
numerous years with Jean Nicole and Claire's, Inc. starting out as a clerk in high school and working his way up to
regional manager. He then pursued careers in banking services while working for American West Bank and RiverBank
which he very much enjoyed, most recently with Heartland Payment Services.
Shawn is survived by his two children, who he worshiped and adored: Ellie J. Murphy (fiance Kurtis) both
of Mead, WA; and Declan P Murphy of Spokane, WA. Shawn is also survived by his sister, Colleen A. Davis (Mark) of
Spokane, WA; nieces, Jessica M. Thomas (Nathan) of Spokane, WA; and Samantha R. Davis, of Spokane, WA. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Patrick. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Bonnie & William
Walker, of Chattaroy, WA for their continued love, support, and assistance during this very difficult time.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities during his life and was a very talented carpenter and mechanic. If he
wasn't hunting or camping with Ellie at her great-grandparents' property or skiing with Declan at 49 Degrees North, you
could find him on the golf course or hanging out with his lifelong friends, Ryan and Randy.
