December 25, 1946 – November 25, 2024
Stephen Gombosky age 77 of Spokane passed away on November 25th. Born in Cleveland Ohio on December 25th, 1946, to Evelyn Iris Darby and Edward Stephen Gombosky.
Steve was educated at Max Hayes Technical School in Cleveland. After graduating he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. While there he met his wife Marilyn Powers they had been married for 55 years.
Two weeks after they married Steve was deployed to Thailand during the Vietnam War. Returning to Spokane, he took a Civilian job at Fairchild Waste Water Treatment Plant, he retired from there after 30 years of service. Soon he missed working and was employed by The Red Lion Inn at the Park and worked another 10 years.
He was a sports enthusiast, baseball especially.
A gifted artist, loved woodworking and later making fishing lures.
Steve's passion for music was a special gift he passed on to his three sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Graham, survived by his wife Marilyn, sister Deborah Schiavoni sons Jeff (Melissa) and Christopher. Grandsons Devin, Daniel and Grayson.
Graveside service was held on November 29th at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Our gratitude to Sacred Heart Medical Center for his kidney transplant 23 years ago. Also, to Horizon Hospice for their comfort and dedicated care for the last 3 years.
