Susan Anne
Curalli
September 27, 1951 – May 21, 2023
Susan Anne Curalli passed away on May 21, 2023 in the presence of family, friends, and the caring staff at Hospice House Spokane. Although she never smoked, she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2019 which she fought bravely with the help of her Catholic faith, daily prayer, and her oncology team.
Susan was born on Sept. 27, 1951 to Joseph and Esther Pfeifer in Ephrata, WA. There she attended St. Rose of Lima School and Ephrata High School. After transferring from Ft. Wright College, she obtained a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Gonzaga University in Spokane in May 1973. From there she obtained a teaching certificate and eventually a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Education which allowed her a career in Early Elementary Education. She was loved and respected by her students and colleagues alike and retired in 2011.
While at Gonzaga, she met her husband Nick L. Curalli, who she married on June 21, 1975, and gave 47 years of self-sacrificial love. In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by their two children Dominick J. Curalli (Shana) and Merrilee A. Curalli, her grandchildren Nick T. Curallli and Dane F. Curalli, her brothers Joseph, Gerry, Steven Pfeifer, and her sister Judy Woods. She was close to all of them. Everyone who knew Susan could not help but love her and her Catholic Christian Faith was very important to her.
"You made us for Yourself, Oh Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You." (St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.)
