Obituary

Theresa Marie Stone Lux was born December 22, 1965 and died unexpectedly on May 30, 2023 at her home in Spokane, WA. She was 57 years old.

Theresa was born to Charles and Kathleen Stone at Edwards Air Force Base in California. She was the firstborn grandchild on either side of the family. She had a wonderful childhood with her  two sisters, Annette and Jody, as well as with her multiple cousins, and many friends. She graduated from Joel E. Ferris High School in Spokane, WA  in 1984. After high school, Theresa started work through the Arc of Spokane, and then at Avista Utility Company. Theresa loved work and enjoyed her coworkers and feeling productive.  Her final place of employment was with Dr. Michelle Metcalf DMD, where she helped to facilitate and organize supplies for the office.

In June of 1985, Theresa met the love of her life, Donald Lux. Theresa and Don dated for eight years, and were engaged for the next two.  On July 15, 1995, Theresa and Don were married at St. Peter Catholic Church in Spokane, WA. It was one of the best days of Theresa's life. Theresa and Don loved to take road trips and attend local festivals, particularly Depot Days in Wallace, Idaho. They loved the Oregon Coast and loved going there to celebrate their anniversary. Theresa and Don were staples at every family event. Their love of family was unmatched, and their love and infectious laughter and stories were the highlight of many celebrations. Theresa and Don were married for almost 28 years.

Theresa had a lifetime history of suffering with epilepsy. She was also a cancer survivor.  She was one tough woman. In 2020 Theresa made the brave decision to go through a procedure to try to ease the severity of her epilepsy. In May of 2021 she underwent brain surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA.  From that time forward, she never suffered from another seizure.  This was one of the most amazing and happiest times of her life, for both her, and her family.  On May 11, 2023, she celebrated two years of being seizure-free. She was very proud of this accomplishment.

Theresa had many interests. She loved to sew and to cross-stitch baby bibs for her many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. She had the patience for the tiny details of that craft. She also loved music, especially anything from the Osmonds, Elvis, John Denver, or Anne Murray.  Don and Theresa had a love of dancing, and spent many an evening at the Eagles Club or Kelly's swing dancing and having a great time. Theresa was an avid game player, and loved to play cards, board games, and dice. She loved everything to do with Disney, and enjoyed her extensive movie collection every day. Theresa had a great love of family, and a memory like a steel trap.

Theresa is survived by her husband Donald Lux of Spokane, WA, her parents, Charles and Kathleen Stone of Spokane, her sister Annette Ourada (Billy) of Spokane, her sister Jody Scott (Brian) of Greenwood, SC, her grandmother Lucille Sprute of Spokane, and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Our family would like to thank Holy Cross Funeral and Cemetery Services, St. Peter Catholic Church, the City of Spokane First Responders, and the many friends and family who have helped us in this time of extreme sorrow.
