Tommie Kay Kopp

Tommie Kay Kopp passed away on October 5, 2026 after a courageous 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tommie was born in Yakima, Washington in 1949 to Jean Cooper and Kenneth Thompson.

The family moved to Post Falls where she completed elementary grades and graduated high school in 1967. After attending NIC, she moved to Spokane Valley where she enrolled in the Cosmetology program at SCC. After completion, she worked in various salons until opening her own shop, Hairbenders, in Millwood. Catering to her customers brought her much joy and she made many lasting friends.

When her children were raised, the decision was made to sell the building, and she went to work at Triumph in Airway Heights.

An accomplished crafter, Tommie enjoyed painting, gardening, baking and collecting fabric. Whoops; make that quilting. She became a master quilter and showered her friends and family with her creations. Usually followed up with a tray of cookies.

Tommie is survived by her husband of 56 years, David, her daughter Cara, brother, Will Thompson (Dani), daughter-in-law Rachel, grandsons Riley and Logan and great grandson Amias.

She is predeceased by her parents and her son, Kevin.

Sweet memories of her generous spirit and love of family will sustain us until we meet again.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, 11:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Spokane Valley, WA.
