Violet (Vi) was born on January 23, 1933, to Albin and Maude Leidholm on the family farm near Underwood, ND. She attended rural education for 2 years until moving to Underwood schools in town and graduating high school in 1950. From there, Vi went on to Capital Commercial College and received secretarial certification. She was employed at a real estate office until December 1951 when she married Darrel Boardman. They moved to Texas while Darrel was in the Air Force. In 1952, when his training was completed, they were transferred to Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, WA.
In Spokane, Vi was employed with Nabisco for 4 ½ years until their 1st child was born. She was a stay-at-home mom for 14 years, attending and volunteering in all her 5 children's activities. She was also involved in PTA, earning the Golden Acorn Award, along with St John Vianney Women's Altar Society.
After going back to work and employed by Olympic Sports, She returned to Nabisco in 1971 and was soon promoted to Operations Manager of the Spokane Branch and Boise warehouse, a position she held until her retirement in 1995. As the operations manager, she received the Award for Excellence in 1987 and was initially the only woman in the US that held that position.
She bowled on 2 women's league bowling teams for over 45 years along with being the secretary for two leagues and was named Secretary of the Year 3 times.
Vi was an avid Seattle Mariners fan, attending Spring Training in Phoenix several times and seasonal games for both the Mariners and Spokane Indians along with being a Gonzaga basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel, her parents, brother Leo Leidholm, daughter Jackie Ivankovich and granddaughter, Annie Heth.
She is survived by her son Gary Boardman, daughters: Debbie Heth (Mark), Connie Daily, Teri Jackson (Michael) and a son in law, Ted Ivankovich. Grandchildren: Jennifer Julian (Brandon), Ryan Heth, Breanna Jackson(Macauley Ivory), Jordan Jackson, Ashley Ivankovich and Lexi Ivankovich along with 3 great grandchildren: Cole Julian, Avery Julian and Theo Jackson Ivory.
