Walt Cromeenes, 82, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. He was born in Helena, Montana, and spent his life serving others with quiet strength, kindness, and generosity.
Walt dedicated 30 years of service to the Spokane City Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant. He took great pride in his career and in protecting the Spokane community, earning the respect of his fellow firefighters and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His service was marked by leadership, integrity, and a deep sense of duty.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patty Cromeenes, his daughter Mindy (John) Schlosser, his son Darren Cromeenes, and his brother Ken (Jan) Cromeenes. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Walt's happy place was at Priest Lake or on the golf course, where he found peace, camaraderie, and simple happiness. Those who knew him will remember him as incredibly kind and generous, always ready to lend a hand and make others feel welcome.
Services will be held on January 16th at 1:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall, Spokane, WA.
Walt's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and a lifetime of service to others.
