Obituary

Wayne Reeder passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by his beloved children and family. He was born Keslar Wayne Reeder on February 21, 1933, in Ten Mile, West Virginia, to Gay L. and Opal Reeder. The youngest of seven children, Wayne grew up in the rolling hills of West Virginia, where his early years included time spent in a children's camp—a formative experience that nurtured his lifelong compassion for others. It was there he had the remarkable opportunity to meet Eleanor Roosevelt, an encounter that left a lasting
impression and fostered his love of education and service.

After graduating high school, Wayne joined the newly formed United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 24 years, including a tour in Thule, Greenland. His military career took him around the globe and eventually to Richardton, North Dakota, where, in 1959, he met and married the love of his life, Pauline H. Berger. Together, they built a warm and loving home, welcoming five children in just under six years—a testament to the strong foundation of love and family they shared.

Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1975, Wayne returned home, took a look around at the lively household, and decided he wasn't quite done working. He began a second career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, a role he held for 20 years with pride and dedication.

Wayne had a deep love for music and was known for always having a song for every occasion—sometimes even making them up. His warm smile and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a longtime member of the Eagles and a devoted
parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spokane Valley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his forever love, Pauline. Wayne is survived by his daughters Becky Reeder (Perry Havard), Sheila Buelow, Janice Reeder, Jody Spalding (Russ), and his "favorite" son, Richard Reeder. He also leaves behind
eight cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Wayne's life was a testament to love, laughter, service, and song. He will be deeply missed.
